conscious breathing in all moments?

topic posted Fri, June 3, 2005 - 6:21 AM by  patio
does anyone, here, have a practice that helps them to link the moments of conscious breath, together? if so, how does it feel? what does it "look" like?
do any of you even think about "conscious breathing"? & if so, what do you think about it?
for myself, w/in the practice of tai chi, we say, "connect the head to the heavens.", for instance. to me, when i have this visualization, i can feel my neck & shoulders relax, as a result of "feeling" connected to "the heavens".
i, sometimes, have a tendency of tensing up my shoulders, for some reason.
which is why i utilize this technique for relaxing that area, as well as feeling
like i'm more connected to the universe, than not. (does this make any kind of sense, to anyone?)
always remember: "when ONE PART moves, ALL PARTS move."

    hi Patio,
I think about conscious breathing. I love breathing. I love breathing into tense parts of this body, and feeling it make a difference. Somedays I make it my goal to breathe a full yogic breath all day. I have recently heard about Silva Mind Control (that apparently part of the pop thinks it Hooey, haha), and that if I put my first three fingers together, thumb, index and middle that I will be able to slow down the breath, and focus longer. I happen to be very sensitive, and this is my favorite kind of exercise. As what Ayurveda would call Vata or wind, I have a fast mind sometimes and am challenged to read a book then. With this technique I can slow it right down there with the book or on the bus. It kind of reminds me of you and your practice Patio, the way you guys move so slow with the breath. I have recently begun some Tai Chi, and it has been a long time coming, and I dig it.
    Thanks for Life,
    Kundali Ma
